The patent for the Webley Mark IV, cal.455 pistol was 'sealed' in 1899. I assume the workers were under pressure to produce these weapons quickly and we all make mistakes but is it something you have seen before. Does anyone amongst this knowledgeable forum have any weapon, like my Webley MARK 'VI' 1918, have a badly punched serial number. ![]() The Webley revolver went through a number of changes, culminating in the Mk VI, which was in production between 19. Officially adopted, and also manufactured by RSAF Enfield under the designation Pistol, Revolver, Webley, No. The rate of fire for the Webley Mk VI is 20-30 rounds a minute. The large.455 Webley revolvers were retired in 1947. I undertand these to have been used for a limited time between about 1897 and about 1900 (I think) before being superseded my the Mk IV. ![]() It's a commercial purchase.455 Webley Mk III with the Serial Number '2929' and maker's name 'P. ![]()
